Happy MARCH: Another Theme Month, Right?

Can we agree to avoid the trap of sequestering so many outstanding, remarkable, important, glorious picture books on themes or topics into the confines of calendars? Theme months are double edged swords, pulling into the spotlight so countless terrific books, then tempting us to pack those away, or slide them onto the back shelves, as the next theme comes along. My thoughts on this practice developed during decades of teaching, and an essay starred in an early post on this blog. My conviction of the damage of this approach has strengthened and continues to this day.

So, I'm using this first of the month post to launch WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH by linking back to some of my favorite posts that spotlight this topic.

Some amazing CYBILS AWARDS nominees from 2019 can be checked out HERE.
