The direct address and informative text approach is enhanced by arranging simple questions and explanations in attention-grabbing text colors and fonts, laid out in bright boxes and other shapes on pages with various characters demonstrating HOLES, even familiar ones, in ways readers may not have noticed them before. Some pages include elaboration of text from the basic Q/A pattern, explaining ways in which an archeologic dig can be considered a hole, how and where various holes develop, and even where one might feel concerned that holes exist at all!

Speaking of classic and timeless, Maurice Sendak and Ruth Kraus created A HOLE IS TO DIG more than a half century ago. it has been reissued many times and some of the original prints are truly valuable. It can still be found in many libraries, and you can view a reading of it on YOUTUBE, HERE.
