Cybils Finalists Lists: Let the Reading Begin!

There's one thing I find more exciting than the TA-DA moment when CYBILS AWARDS WINNERS are announced, and that's the announcement of  the CYBILS AWARDS FINALISTS.

That probably sounds strange.
Think about it.
When the winners are announced the attention of the world (and readers) will be narrowed to one book in each category. At this stage, though, panelists in each group have narrowed hundreds, actually thousands, of 2016 books down to the six or seven best in each category.
These are fantastic choices, and at this stage the spotlight stretches to reach them. After working as a panelist and seeing the scrutiny and integrity that are invested in making those finalists selections, the authors and creators of the books deserve to celebrate. Congratulations to them all.

And we do, too, because everyone can read blog posts, reviews, and the ACTUAL BOOKS to decide for themselves who they would choose as the winners.

If you've been following along, you'll know that my category of judging this year was the elementary/juvenile nonfiction books. That allowed us TWO sub-groups, one for early readers and one for middle grade readers. If you'd like to see our results, here's a shortcut to the reviews for this group.

And I welcome your thoughts on these and other titles in the comments!
